He's actually done it, 496km over 31 days, the equivalent of 12 full marathons.

Joined by family, friends and colleagues, Dave battled through icy blasts, pouring rain and even an Autumn heat wave to complete this challenge in memory of his dear friend and colleague, Gary.
The money Dave has raised will go towards the purchase of a state-of-the-art Cardiac Output Monitor which will help monitor some of the most poorly patients in our Intensive Care Unit without the need for any further invasive treatment. These machines reduce post operative complications, lead to shorter recovery times, and help people get home to their loved ones even quicker.
