No stopping her now!

Less than a year since life-saving heart surgery at LHCH, previous patient, Georgia Morton, decided 2024 was going to be the year to set herself a challenge in support of LHCH Charity.

Georgia was born with a heart murmur however nothing was fully diagnosed until she turned 16 when she started to notice symptoms of dizziness and palpitations. In January 2023 she was told her condition had deteriorated and required open heart surgery.

In November last year, Georgia successfully underwent the Ross Procedure at LHCH, under the care of cardiac surgeon, Mr Ahmed Othman. She made a steady recovery and was able to enjoy Christmas at home surrounded by family and loved ones.

After building up her strength through daily walks, Georgia felt ready to return to her passion of running in March and decided she wanted to give something back to LHCH for the care she received.

So, on Sunday 8th September Georgia took on the Great North Run. After 16 weeks of intense training, Georgia powered through the rain and 13 mile run and managed to raise an incredible £3,000!

From everyone here at LHCH Charity, we'd like to say a huge thank you for your amazing and much appreciated support and well done on this brilliant achievement.
